Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how the website is used. Certain visitors to website choose to interact with The speed Of Sound in ways that functionally require the gathering of personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who use the email newsletter service to provide a name and email address. In each case we collect such information only as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

PROTECTION OF CERTAIN PERSONALLY-IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

GDPR

In addition to all the above, changes due to the introduction of General Data Protection Regulation require us to also state the following regarding the collection and handling of data and information relating to identifiable individuals:

We do not collect or hold or pass any information relating to identifiable individuals unless it falls into the categories below:

  • The user explicitly gives their consent to a specific kind of processing of their personal data (e.g., consent to receive the email newsletter or to purchase from the webshop).
  • The processing of the personal data is required to fulfil a contract (e.g., ship their order).
  • The processing of the personal data is required for legal reasons (e.g., to enable and support the completion of an annual tax return and for the purpose of normal sales related records).
  • The processing of the personal data is a legitimate, expected behaviour of a business (e.g., follow up emails after they’ve placed their order with other products they may be interested in).

If an individual requires to be removed from a contact list this can be done within the newsletter email itself as it contains an unsubscribe button, which will result in no further e-mail contact via the newsletter unless it is consensually resubscribed to. Purchasing from the shop will not automatically add a user to the e-mail list but they may receive e-mails regarding their specific purchase.

No other identifiable data is held the that required for the above purposes.

Changes to data held under the ‘my account’ function of the webshop can be made by the user themselves when logged into their own account.

For the above reasons it is highly unlikely a user will require to have data removed, but in that instance please contact us by via the contact form.
